We believe that investors are preferring to put their money for now in more speculative cryptos like Dodgecoin which has been backed by Elon Musk since the beginning. Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election gave a boost to Elon Musk whose stock market value of Tesla has increased significantly. The same goes for Dodgecoin. Once the SEC appeal against Ripple is resolved, institutional clarity should benefit XRP.
SEC appeal of Judge Torres’ decision
XRP should benefit greatly from institutional clarity. Note that the SEC’s appeal of the court decision is not about the fact that XRP is not a security. This has been set in stone since the judgment and has not been challenged by the SEC. The appeal is about the amount of the penalty that Ripple must pay. The penalty awarded by Judge Torres was $125 million. The SEC wants more. This is why the world's major central banks and largest banks have announced that they will integrate the ISO 20022 standard that Ripple XRP complies with as early as 2025.
Options for the continuation of the SEC appeal
Members of the US Congress have already asked the SEC to drop all lawsuits against non-fraudulent cryptocurrencies.
The SEC can also offer a deal on the amount of the fine that Ripple must pay (currently US 125 million).
During his election campaign, President Trump announced that he would part ways with SEC boss Gary Gensler on the day of his inauguration on January 20, 2025.
Gary Gensler can also resign before this date.
Future of XRP Ledger
By enabling cross-border payments made in 3 to 5 seconds at a cost of just a few cents (much faster and significantly lower than the cost of Swift), XRP is expected to become an international reserve currency. When the use of XRP increases, its value will follow. One hundred billion XRP for 5 billion people is not enough. On average, twenty XRP per person is not enough considering the current value of XRP is lower than the dollar or the euro. One of the co-founders of XRP said that the value of XRP will be $10,000.
